An education and career in both art and design enables our Creative Director Ian Garlant to identify, address and execute a client`s requirements in any of a wide diversity of projects, using skills that include representational drawing, photography, film, painting, sculpture and installation. Ian`s career has included many years as Design Director for Hardy Amies, an international fashion company which in addition to creating couture garments for men and women also manufactured an extensive range of products under license worldwide, from luxury household goods and interior design to all manner of clothing and accessories. This has given him a sound understanding and mastery of remit and process. In his position as couturier and tailoring consultant Ian has been commissioned by an astounding variety of customers, from Heads of State and media personalities to very private individuals. |
In 2009 Ian Garlant relocated from a “glamorous” London life in fashion back to his childhood home in Hatlestrand. Having privately pursued his art throughout an international design career, he now began to concentrate exclusively on developing and perfecting the techniques and ideas with which he had previously experimented. As his work progressed throughout the year, so did the involvement of the community in its production. Surprisingly early on during this process, Ian was invited to exhibit at the Norwegian Embassy in London U.K., at a solo London Exhibition curated by Kay Saatchi and to Show his work in Oslo, Hatlestrand and Ulvik ; this has generated extensive coverage in the press and television. |
“Just what future the Designer of the universe has provided for the souls of men I do not know, I cannot prove. But I find that the whole order of Nature confirms my confidence that, if it is not like our noblest hopes and dreams, it will transcend them.”
