In 2009 Ian Garlant relocated from a “glamorous” London life in fashion back to his childhood home in Hatlestrand. Having privately pursued his art throughout an international design career, he now began to concentrate exclusively on developing and perfecting the techniques and ideas with which he had previously experimented.

The acknowledged haute couture designer, Ian Garlant chose to leave the extravagant lifestyle of aristocratic London and returned to his family roots in a remote Norwegian village on the edge of the Hardanger Fjord.
In pursuit of reality and belonging, Ian finds artistic inspiration from the majestic scenery, but will he ever find a sense of belonging?
